Core Values

Our core values are built upon the foundation of all young Saber athletes having immense pride and desire to wear the Shakopee sweater and bear the Saber logo for the entirety of both their youth and high school hockey experience.

We call this Saber P.R.I.D.E.

Each letter of the word 'pride' represents a distinct attribute that defines the core values of Saber Boys Hockey:

P → PASSION

Loving what you do and doing what you love.

Learning to develop and appreciate intrinsic motivation.

Striving to do your very best in everything you do.

R → RESPECT

Respect for yourself, teammates, coaches, opponents, officials, volunteers and fans.

Respect for those who came before you (alumni) and those who will come after you (youth).

Respect for the game of hockey.

I → INTEGRITY

Being true to yourself.

Being unified with your teammates.

Doing what you know is right even if something else is tempting you.

D → DISCIPLINE

Training to act in accordance with the rules.

Doing what you said you would do, long after the feeling you said it in has passed.

Learning and holding yourself accountable to the technical, tactical, mental, physical and lifestyle disciplines of being a Saber Boys Hockey player.

E → ENERGY

Embracing a positive attitude and a can-do mindset.

Being conscious of and taking full responsibility for your personal aura.

Your energy is contagious. You are either picking others up or tearing them down. Be the light in the room.
